I’ve always loved college basketball. I remember watching Magic Johnson and Larry Bird’s iconic game that most point to as the genesis of what we have come to call March Madness. I have been to NCAA Tournament games in NJ, PA, MD, DC, and GA and have seen all rounds of the tournament with the exception of the Final Four and the Championship Game. I even played (OK, practiced and watched games from some great seats) some very low level college basketball many moons ago. I’ve been to Las Vegas a number of times for the first weekend of the tournament to pay homage to the Tournament by spending the first Thursday and Friday of the Big Dance by watching and betting on games in 12 hour stretches.
.
One of my regrets in getting older and having successively more responsible roles at work and home is that life seems to get in the way of my passion for college basketball more and more each year. For everyone like me out there, CBS Sports Mobile now has an answer. This article announces CBS’s mobile app that will either be a boon to productivity or a destroyer of it.
.
How could it be a boon to productivity? Well, if it means that people will stay at work and at least accomplish SOMETHING rather than ducking out to watch games somewhere else then maybe things will get better for the bosses who dread this time of year. Just as likely, it will enable more workers who can neither slip out and don’t have access to a computer screen to watch via online streaming to become distracted. I’ll be very interested to see if one or the other outcomes is actually measurable.
